The spot export price of acrylonitrile on a FOB US Gulf Coast was flat for the week ending May 21. The market did not report a shortage of materials, but the supply situation was low. The production was then matched to the steady demand. According to market participants, even though 350,000 electricity users, mostly in Houston, were left without power after a severe thunderstorm hit the Houston area on May 16 evening, the chemicals production didn't seem to be affected immediately. A source stated that "we have not seen any storm impact." The ACN contract price in the United States was set at 72 cents/lb, unchanged from last week.
