Asian benzene fell $14.67/mt on the session to $1,047/mt FOB Korea April 29 amid weakness in downstream styrene. the styrene CFR China marker at $1,153.50/mt April 29, down $17/mt on the session. Upstream markets showed relatively muted movement with the front-month ICE Brent futures contract falling 28 cents/b at of the Asian close, while the naphtha C+F Japan market at $714.875/mt, up 25 cents/mt on the session. In China, fundamentals for downstream markets along the styrenic chain remained poor, said market sources."In general, procurement activities in downstream markets have eased; the benzene inventory has been increasing too. Producer margins have been poor along the [styrenic] chain," said one source. Another source attributed softness in the domestic China market to weakness in the European and US markets in the prior trading...
