European MEG spot prices remained under
pressure from weak demand and still ample supply. Some market sources said that suppliers were
being unrealistic and trying to sell material as high as Eur500/mt FCA ARA in
the face of still ample supply. Market sources pointed to the
stalled PET market, where producers were running operating rates at close to
50% in order to manage supply against weak demand. A weak
global macroeconomic environment continued to sap demand, and a recession in
Europe could lead to any hopes of a recovery this year fading. Trade and
indications hovered at around Eur470-490/mt, while bulk indications eased amid
ample supply and barge prices continued to fall. With
