LLDPE sentiment in Europe was driven by
concerns about import resupply. Sources expected export material to be
priced higher because of lower expected volumes and a rising feedstock
cost hitting those imports. Oman and Egypt had their plants closed but there were a number of
factors that made it possible for buyers to be more willing to purchase
more material ahead of any limited import resupply. In addition
to any limitation on imports, suppliers were more determined to pass through
the rising feedstock costs to ensure that buyers could secure more volumes
ahead of any possible limited import resupply. This was due to the increased
cost of naphtha in February, which contrasted with weak derivative demand,
especially for polyethylene and vinyl. The average
