CFR China styrene monomer and FOB Korea markers Aug 28 at $1,134/mt and $1,119/mt, both down $4/mt from the last assessment. Discussions for Asian SM were heard to have fallen in the day, amid a decline in upstream prices in crude oil and benzene. In the macroeconomy, crude oil futures fell Aug. 27 as the market continued to weigh the bullish impacts of supply disruptions in the Middle East against a weaker economic outlook in China. It then remained stable in mid-afternoon Asian trade Aug. 28 as prices consolidated after failing to break through a key technical resistance level ahead of the release of closely watched economic data from China this weekend.
