Asian Styrene monomer: Prices rising tracking active futures trading / SM futures rise Yuan 124/mt on day / East China inventory shrinks by 29,400 mt in a week

CFR China styrene and FOB Korea markers were both $1,081.50/mt on Sept. 18, up $13.50/mt since the previous assessment. On the day following the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Asian SM market saw some activity. Market participants expressed concern over the potential for some SM units to undergo turnarounds in China within the next few months. SM futures at the Dalian Commodity Exchange were active and saw higher price discussions. At 3 pm Singapore time on Sept. 18, the September SM DCE EB2410 contract closed at Yuan 8791/mt, up Yuan 124/mt compared to the previous day. On Sept. 17, crude oil futures rose amid expectations of a rate cut by the US Federal Reserve and concerns about geopolitical risks following an attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon.
