CFR China styrene and FOB Korea markings Oct. 2, at $1,117/mt each, up $15/mt over the previous assessment. The Chinese SM market was quiet as market participants celebrated the Golden Week holiday. The upstream price surge was due to the growing geopolitical tensions. In the macroeconomy on Oct. 2, crude oil futures rose in the midafternoon Asian trading after increased tensions in Middle East sparked bullish runs. The front-month December ICE Brent Futures surged by $4.51/b to $74.04/b in the Asian closing Oct. 2. The mark for upstream benzene FOB Korea was up $17/mt in one day to $954.33/mt.
