CFR China styrene and FOB Korea markers were both assessed at $1,107/mt on October 4, up $10/mt since the previous assessment. The Chinese SM market was quiet as market participants celebrated the Golden Week holiday. The day after the previous day's decline, crude oil prices in the upstream sector saw a rebound. In the macroeconomy on Oct. 4, crude oil futures rose in the mid-afternoon Asian trading amid fears that escalating conflicts in the Middle East may disrupt crude oil exports from the region. The front-month December ICE Brent Futures rose $3.56/b in one day to $78.24/b by the close of Asian trade on Oct. 4.
