Asian Styrene monomer: Prices rise slightly on stronger futures markets / Premiums for H2 Dec and prompt cargoes drop on lower buying interest / Spot supply heard to be tightening up in NE Asia

CFR China styrene Monomer and FOB Korea Markers Dec. 13 are $1,045/mt & $1,020/mt respectively, up $1/mt since the previous assessment. The day saw a rise in discussions for Asian SM, mainly because of the strong futures market. According to sources on the market, however, premiums for H2 Dec and prompt cargoes are down as buyer interest is waning. The Dalian Commodity Exchange has seen an increase in discussions about SM futures. The contract for January SM DCE EB2501 closed at Yuan 8,513/mt by 3 PM Singapore time on Dec. 13. This was an increase of Yuan 19/mt. Spot supplies in Northeast Asia were reported to be tightening up due to the expectation of many planned turn-arounds in 2025.
