Asian Styrene Monomer: Prices rise tracking stronger upstream prices / Oil futures rise $1.40/b on day / SM futures increases to Yuan 9,139/mt

CFR China styrene and FOB Korean markers were $1,126/mt on August 8 and $1,111/mt respectively, up $1/mt since the previous assessment. The day's discussions for Asian SM increased, following the recent strength of benzene and the recovery in crude oil upstream prices. The macroeconomy saw crude oil futures higher at midmorning on August 8, after the US commercial crude stock had declined for the sixth week in a row. Concerns about the weakening of the US and China economies limited gains. The October ICE Brent front-month futures increased $1.40/b, to $76.86/b by the Asian close of 11:30am Singapore time (0330 GMT), August 8. The mark for upstream benzene FOB Korea was $1,014.33/mt.
