Asian ABS prices rise amid higher upstream costs / Upstream styrene Monomer up $52.50/mt in the past week / China ABS run rate drops to 61.17% - Oct 04, 2024

The Asian acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia markers at $1,450/mt and $1,470/mt, respectively, Oct. 2, both $10/mt higher on the week as upstream prices surged in the previous week. As the Chinese Golden Week holiday continues, the Asian ABS market was relatively quiet during the day. Some Taiwanese market participants could not participate in discussions due to Typhoon Krathon. Upstream prices increased from the previous week, causing offer levels to increase. CFR China's styrene Monomer Marker was $1,112/mt in the upstream market on Oct. 2. This is up $52.50/mt from the previous week. Butadiene was $10/mt higher than the previous week, at $1.590/mt CFR China, Oct. 2.
