CFR China styrene and FOB Korea markers were both $1,107/mt on Sept. 6, down $1/mt compared to the previous assessment. The discussions for Asian SM remained rangebound during the day with mixed changes being observed for different laycans. In Chinese SM, discussions of H2 September laycans were said to have increased by Yuan 10/mt while discussions of October laycans were said to have decreased by Yuan 10. But prompt cargoes, which are usually discussed the next day, were actively discussed. The domestic prompt assessment was up by 80 Yuan/mt that day to Yuan 9,415/mt. Market sources reported that South Korea remained relatively quiet this week, with little discussion heard. According to some participants, the supply in Southeast Asia was higher.
