Asian Styrene monomer: Prices drop after traders cover short positions – Prices rise, then fall after China's stimulus plan announcement – Yulong Petrochemical starts trial operations

Prices of Asian styrene were lower on September 25, after the previous gains made overnight due to China's stimulus plan. Asian styrene monmer prices were down by $19.50/mt on September 25. Trading sources reported that SM futures at the Dalian Commodity Exchange dropped in the afternoon. The November SM DCE EB2411 contract closed at Yuan 8370/mt on September 25, down Yuan 189/mt compared to 8,559/mt on Sept. 24. FOB China's marker, which includes October laycans in its calculation, was $22/mt less at $1,083/mt. This reduced the spread compared to CFR China laycans from $28/mt to plus $15/mt. The price of styrene monomer experienced a rapid rise, followed by a swift decline. Some traders bought earlier in the day to cover short positions.
