Asian Styrene monomer: Prices drop on weaker futures markets / Futures market decline Yuan 59/mt in one day / Weak Demand Concerns Heard in Northeast Asia Next Year

CFR China styrene and FOB Korean markers were $1,037.50/mt on Dec. 20, down $7.50/mt since the previous assessment. Sources attributed the fall in discussions for Asian SM to weak crude oil and macroeconomic sentiments. Chinese sources claim that while selling interest is up, buyers are on the sidelines because prices are dropping. The price discussion for SM futures at the Dalian Commodity Exchange has decreased. The January SM DCE EB2501 contract closed at Yuan 8 424/mt on Dec. 20 at 3 pm Singapore Time, down Yuan 59/mt from the previous day. In Northeast Asia weak demand concerns for 2025 may limit the ability of producers to charge higher prices next year.
