Asian Styrene Monomer Prices Fall as Futures Market Weakens Further / H2 Dec premiums rise amid short squeeze / Futures market decline Yuan 82/mt in one day

CFR China styrene and FOB Korean markers were $1,032/mt on Dec. 6, down $8/mt compared to the previous assessment. As the futures markets continued to weaken, discussions for Asian SM fell day by day. Market sources reported that due to a short-squeeze, premiums for December H2 cargoes increased to between Yuan 350/mt to Yuan 400/mt on Dec. 6 compared to levels between Yuan260/mt to Yuan300/mt the day before. The price discussion for SM futures at the Dalian Commodity Exchange decreased. The January SM DCE EB2501 contract closed at Yuan 8,402/mt on Dec. 6 at 3pm Singapore time, down Yuan 82/mt from the previous day.
