Asian Styrene monomer: Prices fall on weakening upstream market / Upstream crude oil drops $3.76/b in a single day / SM futures drop Yuan 224/mt on day

CFR China styrene and FOB Korean markers were both $1,114/mt on Sept. 4, down $27/mt since the previous assessment. Sources attributed the decline in discussions for Asian SM to lower upstream prices, as well as a weakening SM Futures Market. On the Chinese Dalian Commodity Exchange, prices dropped during the day. At 3:00pm Singapore time, the October SM DCE EB2410 contract closed at Yuan 9039/mt on September 4, down Yuan 224/mt compared to the previous day. The macroeconomy saw crude oil futures lower at midafternoon Asian trading on September 4 as services activity growth in China slowed, despite a seasonally boosted boost.
