Asian Styrene monomer: Prices drop on thin demand and weak futures market / SM Futures Down Yuan 145/mt in a Day / China SM operating rates heard at 66.59%

CFR China and FOB Korean styrene markers were $1,141/mt & $1,131/mt on July 12, respectively. Both are down $17/mt since the previous assessment. Market sources attributed the decline in discussions for Asian SM to persistently low demand for styrene and a weakening futures market. A market source stated that the futures market today was weaker and that buying signals were lower. Prices on the Chinese SM Futures Market at Dalian Commodities Exchange dropped July 12. At 3pm Singapore time on July 12, the SM futures DCE EB2408 contract closed at Yuan 9271/mt, down Yuan 145/mt from the previous trading day.
