Asian Styrene monomer: Prices steady despite thin market discussion / South Korea continues to enjoy a plentiful supply / SM operating rates drop to 67.96% during the week

The CFR China and FOB Korean styrene Monomer Markers at $1,019/mt & $1,004/mt on Nov. 15 remain unchanged. SM prices rose in the morning, supported by higher futures prices. In the afternoon, December SM futures reached Yuan 8,356/mt. The futures prices fell until the close of the market due to a lack of support during price discussions. On Nov. 15, the Dalian Commodity Exchange's December SM futures DCE2412 closed at Yuan 8,312/mt, up Yuan 3/mt from the previous day. On the export market, participants speculated that US cargoes could be flowing into Asia due to traders trying to empty their tanks because of the inventory tax in the US.
