Asian Styrene monomer: Prices drop amid a softened futures market / China SM operating rate down at 69.5% / Stockpiles at Kandla remain excessively large

CFR China styrene Monomer and FOB Korean markers on June 21 were $1,130/mt & $1,120/mt respectively, down $4/mt compared to the previous assessment. Market sources attributed the decline in discussions for Asian SM to a weakening futures market and a general weakness of Asia SM. Today, the Chinese SM futures exchange at Dalian Commodities Exchange experienced a drop in prices. The SM DCE EB2407 contract for the SM futures closed at Yuan 9 217/mt on June 21 at 3 PM Singapore time, down Yuan 33/mt from the previous trading day.
