Asian Styrene monomer: Prices fall for the fourth consecutive day amid persistent market / weakness An ample supply is heard in the region / China's SM Capacity at 72.59% during the week ending Oct. 11

Styrene monomer CFR China & FOB Korea Markers at $1,082/mt & $1,067/mt on Oct. 11. Both down $6/mt since the previous assessment. Market sources attributed the decline in discussions for Asian SM to persistent weakness in recent days and expectations of increased supply. The market sentiment today is also quite negative. A market source stated that the amount of imports was higher than anticipated. The market source said that "this week, about 30,000 mt [of imports] were made into China." Towards midafternoon SM futures recovered slightly after having been down most of the day. The rise in SM futures could be attributed by market sources to China's announcement of details about its upcoming stimulus program this weekend.
