Asian Styrene monomer: Prices are rangebound on the domestic China market / March futures up Yuan 10/mt in one day / East China stock up 7,500 mt in a week

On Feb. 12 the styrene Monomer CFR China and FOB Korean markers were $1,063/mt & $1,053/mt, respectively. Both marks rose $2/mt in one day. This was due to the rangebound movement on the Chinese futures markets. Asian SM prices rose marginally, despite a weakening of crude oil prices. As of 3:00 pm Beijing Time, the Dalian Commodities Exchange's front-month March EB2503 styrene monmer futures contract closed Yuan 10,643/mt higher. The supply side saw a rise in inventory levels of 7,500 mt per week, to 140,500mt, on February 12. Crude oil futures fell in the afternoon Asian trade on February 12, mainly due to a higher-than-expected rise in US crude inventories. This increased downside risks.
