production in Q3The Asian styrene markets dipped slightly
on April 19, due to weaker crude oil and benzene upstream. As of the Asian close at
0830 GMT, the FOB Korea benzene contract fell $26/mt to $987.33/mt. The
front-month ICE Brent contracts lost $1.06/b and reached $83.54/b. The demand for spot cargoes in South Korea was low, as
buyers and producers had completed their purchasing activities for the
turnaround in Q2, while cargo requirements for May were mostly met. Even with supply in the South Korean market reduced,
producer margins remain poor along the styrenics chain, with downstream
polystyrene and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene producers citing negative
