In the week ending March 29, Asian PET
market export prices saw strong support. A stronger PTA feedstock, and a higher
crude oil price, pushed up indicative offers and bids. Although some producers
offered May-loading shipments to buyers, trades were thin due to the fact that
buyers were still waiting to see what happens. A producer from China said that the recent price rise was
primarily due to higher crude oil prices and PTA feedstock. However, buyers are
still cautious about purchasing PET because of the steep hike in PET's price. According to market sources, operating rates at PET
facilities across China were reported at between 90% and 100% during the week. The operating rates of the yarn and polyester fiber markets
