In the European polystyrene industry, a
large range of spot prices were heard up to the 17th of May. There was a
significant gap between the import price and the domestically produced
material. A
source stated that the spread was over Eur300/mt. Imports from Egypt, Pakistan Mexico and Vietnam offered
cheaper material, but the volumes were still much lower than those of domestic
European producers. The May CPs were set
to rise after an increase in the styrene contract price upstream. The upward trend in prices was stopped by a downward trend
