Asian caprolactam was assessed at $15/mt less in the week ending Sept. 12 as buyers were cautious due to a drop in upstream prices. FOB Korea benzene at $939.67/mt is down by $42/mt compared to the previous week. "Caprolactam price this week seems to be stable. Prices decreased after benzene, but with a delay. "So [production] spreads appeared to have improved temporary," said a manufacturer. A producer also said that the buying sentiment was weak this week and added, "Nobody dares buy any spot cargoes." A bid of $1,660/mt was made CFR Unv1, however buying indicators have dropped in line with the market. There's no reason to keep prices high, as both upstream and downstream demand has fallen.
