MTBE fell $40/mt to $884/mt March 17, at $884/mt FOB Singapore, March 20, due
in part to May ICE Brent futures falling $5.10/b to $70.34/b March 20, Sources
say that little activity was observed in the market due to weak sentiment and
the steady fall in Brent prices. A market trader stated that Chinese sellers
are not interested in selling MTBE exports from Singapore as there is no
arbitrage window due to the large gap between FOB China markers and FOB
Singapore markers. According to Chinese sources, supply was tight in South
China due to many Chinese refineries' turnarounds scheduled for spring. There
were also limited domestic offers for prompt cargoes. Sources reported
