South Asia's spot demand / Benzene drops slightly but still remains strong

The price of Asian caprolactam remained stable from week to week at $1.690/mt CFR Far East Asia, despite cost pressures coming from upstream markets. There was also feedback that prices were stable or firmer than the previous week, and talk of rising prices in China. A participant in the Northeast Asian market said that "the caprolactam prices are stable" compared to last week. The average benzene price fell $5.60/mt from last week to $1.068.10/mt FOB Korea, but the market for benzene appears to be stable and is a concern to end-users. According to a market source in Northeast Asia, the peak season has passed and end-users are reducing operations. South Asia was the source of demand, with trades being done at around $1,750/mt CIF India for arrivals in late April...
