The European propylene market was increasingly quiet in the week ended May 31 as consumers continued their cautious approach towards spot markets. Sources reported a continued swing towards long market conditions throughout the week as consumers were able to maintain their current stock levels. Consumers reported that the demand felt weaker in May. If the market had been balanced at first, it has now become balanced too long. Conditions weakened further due to weak demand on derivative markets. Illiquidity increased across downstream value chains for polypropylene and oxoalcohol. Strong freight prices continued to limit the flow of materials into the continent.
