The spot price of US Gulf Coast methanol dropped by 1 cent on 7 May amid feedback from the market that trading was thin and offers were falling. The US spot market is quiet since late April after a sharp increase in trading. A market source stated that there would be no trades for the next two weeks. The day began with May and June FOB ITC offers at 99 cents/gal, which was in line after the Market on Closure May 6. Prompt-and-forward-month offers later fell to 98 cents/gal FOB ITC.
