Asian Solvent: Trading activity increases as markets remain stable / Isomer-MX is up $18/mt in a week; naphtha is up $6.50/mt / Prices in SE Asia are falling due to a tepid demand

On Sept. 20, Asian mixed-grade xylenes were down by 10 cents/mt from the previous week, to $669.90/mt F.O.B. Korea. Bids and offers on October-loading cargoes emerged at the end the week. The upstream markets and isomer grade mixed xylene showed an upward trend during the week. Some traders and producers were targeting higher prices, but offers for October loading FOB Korea cargoes appeared, which indicated stable or lower solvent-MX pricing. Isomer MX increased $18/mt from week to week, reaching $719/mt at FOB Korea. Strong demand was seen for the second half of October loading cargoes. In the meantime, naphtha increased $6.50/mt in the past week to $652.50/mt C+F Japan.
