Asian Solvent MX: FOB Korea falls to $38.43/mt due to low Chinese demand and falling isomer / Isomer MX and naphtha fall on the week / Freight costs are supporting SE Asian prices

On Oct. 18, the price of Asian mixed xylene, a solvent grade, fell by $38.43/mt from week to week. Prices in upstream and related markets were also lower. The FOB price of MX isomer grade fell $30/mt from the previous week to $730/mt. Also, the FOB price of the isomer mark FOB Korea was down by more than $40/mt. On a weekly basis, the price of naphtha in upstream markets fell by $40/mt. It now stands at $658.88/mt. In China, the demand for MX was also very low. A large supply is expected in the near term. Local sources reported that Yulong Petrochemical, a Chinese company, has started selling gasoline and blendstocks such as MX on the domestic spot markets. This was between Oct. 16-18.
