Asian Solvent MX: Declines tracking weaker upstream, aromatics prices / FOB Korea drops $9.43/mt in a week / Isomer MX Down $19.50/mt in a Week

On July 26, Asian mixed xylenes, a solvent grade, fell $9.43/mt from the previous week to $867.57/mt at FOB Korea. This was due to lower upstream prices and aromatics. Feedstock naphtha fell $15.50/mt to $684/mt C+F Japan, while higher grade MX (isomer-grade MX) dropped $19.50/mt to $887/mt at FOB Korea. The drop in upstream oil prices appeared to have dampened demand, but arbitrage shipping cargoes to China from South Korea seemed open. A buy idea of $900/mt was proposed for August arrivals. According to sources, East China MX inventories were lower than 30,000 mt during the week that began on July 22. This was down from slightly more than 30,000mt the previous week.
