On Sept. 6, the price of Asian mixed-grade xylene solvent fell $55.71/mt in a week, to $8703.29/mt F.O.B. Korea as supplies increased faster than demand. A trader from Singapore stated that the market sentiment was still bearish and that falling crude prices upstream were exacerbating this situation. The trader stated that the market was weak because crude prices were falling. "No one would buy crude in a downward trend," he said. Crude prices were hammered in recent days due to concerns about additional supplies flooding an already weak market, and a tepid macroeconomic outlook.
