Asian Solvent MX: Prices drop sharply as supply increases / Market to become weak / Solvent demand seen weakening

On Aug. 2, Asian mixed-grade xylenes of solvent grade fell $16.57/mt in a week, to $851/mt F.O.B. Korea. Supplies are expected to rise while demand struggles to keep up. Solvent-MX cargoes saw very few bids or offers throughout the day. One trader from China stated that the market is still inactive and likely to remain so for the foreseeable future. He added that a sudden turnaround in activity on the market was unlikely. A trader from Singapore stated that the market was small, with low liquidity and overall weak. Sources say that although the supply of solvent MX is increasing in Asia, there isn't enough demand to absorb it.
