Asian Solvent MX: FOB Korea increases $15/mt due to higher aromatics and upstream values / China MX stocks drop below 20,000 mt / FOB Korea spot cargoes are being negotiated

On Jan. 17, Asian mixed-grade xylene prices increased $15/mt from the previous week, to $755/mt FOB Korea. This was due to higher prices on related aromatics markets as well as upstream raw materials. Prices of toluene and isomer-MX jumped during the weekend of Jan. 11-12 as crude oil prices and downstream prices increased following US and UK sanctions against Russia's oil trading. Isomer-MX FOB Korea rose by $22/mt in one week to $803/mt. Toluene FOB Korea also increased by $19/mt. South Korean producers have spot cargoes ready for loading in February and March. According to reports, negotiations are ongoing for the February loading volumes. According to an Indian participant in the market, there was a demand for products from Southeast Asia. India is expected to increase its demand moving forward....
