In the week to April 26,
acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene producers saw some relief as feedstocks
softened. The styrene monomer CFR China marker at $1,061/mt, down $38/mt on the
week, whereas the acrylonitrile CFR Far East Asia marker was assessed flat on
the week at $1,410/mt and the butadiene CFR China assessment was flat on the
week at $1,060/mt. ABS prices were assessed $10/mt lower on the week at
$1,340/mt CFR China and $1,365/mt CFR China April 26. Sources said that Chinese
ABS producers continue to produce at relatively high operating rates,
exacerbating the current situation of oversupply in Northeast Asia. Sources estimate that rates are around 85%. This
