Asian benzene is down by $19.67/mt for the
day to $871/mt FOB Korea, May 10. Sources
said that the lackluster demand in China continues to affect the Asian benzene
markets. Asian benzene price remained low
despite the increase in the upstream oil markets. The July ICE Brent crude futures contract, which closed at
$76.31/b in Asia the previous day, was 27 cents/b higher by 4:30 pm Singapore
time (830 GMT). Before the close, two
offers were heard for June FOB Korean cargo at $874-994/mt. Also, CFR China June cargo was offered at $910-930/mt with a
flexible volume between 3,000 and 6,000 mt. Payment terms were 30 days letter
of credit. This cargo offer also prevented
FOB Korea's benzene maker to move higher. Weak
