The polystyrene market was flat or weaker
in the week ending April 26. Producers reported slightly lower offers
than the previous week. An Unv1 producer of high-impact as well as
general purpose polystyrene spoke of softer demands. The producer said that the number of orders
received were "not much" when combined with more competitive offers
in China and Southeast Asia, as well as softer upstream markets for styrene. Container
freight is estimated to be between $10 and $20 per mt. In other news,
Idemitsu announced that on April 25, they had obtained ISCC Plus
Certification for their two Malaysian subsidiaries Idemitsu SM Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. Petrochemicals
Malaysia Sdn. Bhd produces styrene monmer and high impact
polystyrene at its site in Pasir Guidang, Malaysia.
