Asian PS prices fall due to weaker Styrene upstream / SM drops $45/mt in a week / Freight costs continue limiting sales volume

CFR China prices for general purpose polystyrene were $1,290/mt, down $10/mt from the previous week. Meanwhile, high impact PS (HIPS), which is a form of polystyrene with a higher impact, was $1,365/mt CFR China, down $10/mt. The Chinese market saw prices fall on the week due to lower input costs resulting from a weaker market for styrene. CFR China's styrene Monomer Marker at $1,138/mt is down $45/mt from the previous week. In general, suppliers have maintained their offer levels from last week. Most suppliers said that the increased container freight rates have led to a reduction in sales volume, as deepsea sales are significantly reduced.
