Asian PS prices fall as producers lower their offers / SM Upstream down $76.50/mt in a week / China's PS rates are falling, while EPS rates are rising - Oct 21, 2024

CFR China prices for general-purpose and high-impact polystyrene were lower by $20/mt each on Oct. 16 compared to the previous assessment. The slump in styrene futures and the weakening of upstream crude oil prices led to a general revision in offer levels by producers in the week ending Oct. 16. The CFR China upstream styrene monmer marker is now $1,031.50/mt. This is down $76.50/mt from the previous week. Due to the continued decline in SM, PS customers tend to purchase when they anticipate SM prices to increase and to hold back when prices are expected to continue to drop.
