PX inventory set to increase / July spot prices bank on optimism

Prices for Asian paraxylene were lower on April 25, due to a minimal improvement in demand, which was unable to absorb the growing supply in the region. Asian paraxylene prices were down $10/mt for the day, at $1035/mt CFR unv1/China on April 25. The high PX inventory levels are a concern to Asian market participants. After repairs, China's Zhejiang Petrochemical and Chemical will restart its 2 million mt/year Paraxylene Line in Zhoushan. This is likely to add more PX to the spot market. A PX producer from the region stated that "supply [is] still abundant". A PTA producer stated that the market sentiment is "too weak" because there is not enough demand for PX.
