Upstream naphtha price drops $7.5/mt in one day / Downstream SM prices rise $15/mt on day

The Asian benzene price fell slightly on the session. FOB Korea and CFR China were at $1,061.50/mt apiece and $1,076/mt apiece on April 15. This was down by $1.67/mt compared to the previous day and an increase of $4/mt. Throughout the day, market fundamentals changed in a mixed way. On the one hand, increased supply was heard in China. Market sources estimate that East China spot benzene inventory levels remained elevated on the week. They were 85,700 mt in April 15, an increase of around 2,000mt from the previous week. In the macroeconomy as well, crude oil futures fell in midafternoon Asian trading on April 15, as diplomatic efforts gained momentum in response to a direct Iranian strike against Israel.
