Asian paraxylene was down $10.50/mt for the
day, to $984.83/mt at CFR Unv1/China on June 19. This followed a trend of
falling prices in China's Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange or ZCE. Purified terepthalic acids, or PTA futures, were
lower on the day in both the first and second session of trading. The most
actively traded September 2023 contract was Yuan 106/mt lower at Yuan 5,498/mt,
a drop of 1.89% from the second session of June 16 trading. According to
market sources, there was no specific cause for the declining PTA values in
ZCE, but a general downward movement that developed over the weekend and
