SM Futures Up Yuan 87/mt in One Day / East China SM Commercial inventories rise to 58,700 mt

On May 29, the styrene monomer CFR China (mt) and FOB Korea (mt) markers were $1,196/mt et $1,186/mt respectively. Both marks are up by $11.50/mt since their last assessments. Market sources attributed the increase in discussions for Asian SM on Chinese domestic markets to the higher upstream prices and optimism in the futures markets. Crude oil futures rose in mid-afternoon Asian trading on May 29 as investors took note of a possible tightening supply forecast in advance of the upcoming OPEC+ summit and the ongoing geopolitical tensions around Gaza. The upstream market saw a general increase on the day. Front-month ICE Brent Futures were at $84.87/b, an increase of $1.48/b over the previous session.
