- Slow trading continues during week- Upstream styrene sees bearish margins- Downstream Demand lacking

The US acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene
market held steady in the week ended March 29 just as upstream styrene
liquidity strengthened. Despite
an increase in upstream trading of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, pricing was
still below feedstockbenzene. The downstream ABS markers were unable to supply
sufficient demand to keep styrene spot price from falling below
feedstockbenzene. Spot butadiene prices in
the US remained near their two-year lows March 24, despite low demand and
participants waiting for direction from the April monthly contract pricing. Spot export acrylonitrile prices rose in the US during the
week ending March 28. Activity levels increased as the US upstream propylene
market stabilized.
