The Asian propylene market declined April
24 as a weak downstream market hurt buying. At 4:30 pm Singapore time, the June ICE Brent crude oil
futures contract was up $0.11/mt from the previous Asian close at $81.3/lb
at 0830 GMT. But the slight uptick in the crude
oil price failed to lift the propylene market. "Over the weekend,
propylene went soft with the crude oil price down a bit," a propylene
producer in South Korea said. The Shandong domestic price was down Yuan 115/mt
at Yuan 7,035/mt ex-tank, and this came in at $895/mt CFR China after taking
taxes and the conversation rate into account. "The PP operating rate [is]
