February 23 saw the Asian propylene market
slow down due to continued weak downstream PP demand. The April ICE Brent crude
oil futures contract fell $1.29/b to $81.09/b, at 4:30pm Singapore time. This
was a decrease of $1.29/b compared to the Asian close at $81.09/b 0830 GMT. "Oil and propane prices have dropped. According to a South Korean end-user, the downstream demand
is still low. However, propylene prices in
Shandong dropped Yuan 85/mt and reached Yuan 7,515/mt Ex-Tank. This comes out
to $953.9/mt CFR China, after accounting for currency conversation tax. "PP buyers can't afford to pay higher. A propylene producer from South Korea stated that while PP
buyers cannot afford higher prices, Acrylonitrile buyers, who are downstream
propylene oxide...
