In the week ending May 9, discussions on
CFR phenol were impacted by a lackluster demand and ample supplies, while
acetone remained stable despite a shortage. PHENOL East China ex-tank
supply was last heard at Yuan 7,500-7,580/mt. This is down about Yuan 150-200/mt
from the previous week. Chinese domestic
phenol was assessed at Yuan 7,495/mt down Yuan130/mt from the previous week, or
$15.94/mt lower at $889.63/mt based on import parity. On May 9, FOB China phenol was offered at $1,000/mt. India's ex-tank Kandla talks fell to Rupees 95/kg. This is a
drop of nearly Rupees 4.50/kg in a week. A
local producer lamented that phenol demand was weak, and product margins
