- Selling pressure in China- Sep ZCE slips Yuan 22-28/mt on day

The Chinese methanol markets were under
pressure to sell due to a lack of demand from downstream consumers and an
abundance of global supplies. On
May 18, offer volumes exceeded bids, with sellers in mid-afternoon trade
offering cargoes for June arrival in the $270 to $272/mt range. This was $3-$5/mt less than the initial offers made in
morning trading. On May 18, the actively
traded September methanol contract at the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange was
settled at Yuan 2,240/mt, a Yuan 22/mt decrease on the day. On May 18, Asian methanol fell $4/mt on the day to $266/mt
