- Sell sentiment is bullish after higher deals- Activity may pick up in the
last week

The Asian ethylene market was quiet on July
3 with many participants waiting to see what happens. The market was a little quieter, but the selling
sentiment was positive because deals were done at higher prices in the previous

margins in downstream. Some market participants believe that activity
could pick up in the last week. There are still buyers who have August
requirements. On the upstream market, the benchmark C+F Japan
Naphtha was up 12.5 cents/mt to $534/mt by the July 3 Asian closing. The
ethylene-naphtha differential was calculated at $216-236/mt. This is below the
usual spreads of $250/mt or $300-$350/mt in non-integrated producers.
